Barrels & Blends Culinary Series
One of the highlights of our fall, winter and spring seasons at Flag Hill is our Barrels & Blends Culinary Series (previously known as Vineyard Dinners). Food, wine and spirit related dinners and events are held in the ambiance of our classic New England post and beam dining room and are open to the public by reservation. We look forward to hosting a variety of activities this winter and spring. As dinners and other events are planned, the links below can be used to learn more about each particular event.
Our ever popular dinners begin with a tour of Flag Hill Distillery, presented by owner, Frank Reinhold. His delightful wit, humor and down to earth speak makes understanding and learning about the mysterious world of spirits an entertaining event. Following the tour, guests are seated to taste some of the various wines and spirits made at Flag Hill. The evening’s delight comes with the serving of the first course, with each course smelling and tasting better than the next. Better watch your neighbors to the left and right to make sure every bite on your plate is accounted for! Each dinner has its own unique cast of flavors, style and theme and vary in price based on the menu. We invite you to escape into our world of wine, spirits and food for an evening (or two or three) you will talk about for weeks to come. Dates for the dinners will be posted below as they are established with a link to its corresponding Calendar listing which will have specific menu, pricing and reservation information. Also keep an eye out for other public events happening at Flag Hill and other community events in the area from November through May on our Calendar!
Meet the Chef
Lisa Blackburn
Lisa Blackburn, formerly of Mawby’s Restaurant and Culinary Shop in Andover, MA and Personal Touch Catering in Newburyport, attended Northern Essex Community College and the University of Lowell earning a degree in Business Administration. Since her first job in the food industry as a waitress, she has had a passion for all things food and worked to integrate her degree with her passion. With more than 30 years of experience from waitressing to managing, owning and cooking within the industry, Lisa has lived her dream of building a solid foundation from her schooling and her life experience and passion. A resident of Newburyport, she enjoys spending summers in NH. While versed in a range of culinary areas, Lisa’s favorite cooking style is classic comfort food cooking as well as Italian and Greek inspired items. When asked what her favorite dish is, her answer was “I like them all, that’s the problem!”. Inquiring about her favorite dessert, we narrowed it down to a favorite fall dessert: warm apple crisp with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Her biggest inspiration in the industry was a woman who proved that determination, perseverance and a genuine love for food can bring a lifetime of success and joy, Julia Childs.
