Introducing Breakfast Bourbon: A New Flag Hill Release

Last weekend, Flag Hill Distillery launched a brand-new whiskey: Breakfast Bourbon.
This is the sixth entry in our growing whiskey lineup, joining our Straight Bourbon, Wheated Bourbon, Maple Bourbon, Straight Rye, and American Single Malt.
People have been asking, "What is Breakfast Bourbon?" to which I reply, "When were you gonna drink it? At lunch?"
But seriously....
What Makes Breakfast Bourbon Unique
Our inspiration was simple — capture the comforting flavors of breakfast in a bourbon. To do this, we added two grains we’ve never used before: oats and chocolate malt.
Chocolate malted barley is a roasted malt best known from stouts and porters. It brings rich notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, and espresso. Because it’s distilled, you get the roasted depth without the bitterness.
Oats aren’t common in bourbon — they’re tough to work with during fermentation — but they reward the effort by lending a silky, velvety texture and a hint of nutty sweetness. Combined with chocolate malt, they create a flavor profile unlike anything else in our collection.

Tasting Notes
Breakfast Bourbon was released at 6 years old, a sweet spot for balance. It has the depth of well-aged bourbon without losing the softness imparted by the oats.
Nose: Mocha latte, vanilla, toasted oak.
Palate: Cocoa crisp cereal, biscuit, espresso ice cream.
Finish: Smooth, creamy, with lingering chocolate and spice.

We’re excited to share Breakfast Bourbon with you! It’s available now at the Flag Hill Tasting Room and Flag Hill Store. As we get into Fall, you’ll also start to see it in New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets.
